How to properly prepare for tests – tips

For most tests, the patient does not need to fast.

Tests marked in blue on the referral mean that the patient should come for a blood test on an empty stomach.

  • 🚫 Fasting means at least 12 hours after eating a meal, unless your doctor has recommended a post-meal test.
  • 💧 Before the test, you can only drink non-sweet water.

What not to eat:

  • 🚫 Meals, snacks, fruits, vegetables, breath-freshening candies, chewing gum, smoking cigarettes.

What not to drink:

  • 🚫 Flavored water, coffee, cola light/cola zero drinks, energy drinks, juices.

Tests for which you must undergo an empty stomach:

      • ✔️ Glucose, Glucose Tolerance Test
      • ✔️ Iron, ALT, AST, Proteinogram, Albumin, Amylase
      • ✔️ Glucose + WR panel
      • ✔️ Liver function test panel (total protein, bilirubin, AST, ALT)
      • ✔️ Comprehensive panel (blood count, glucose, cholesterol, urinalysis)
      • ✔️ Diabetes panel (glucose, urine analysis)
      • ✔️ Transaminase panel (ALT, AST)

Tests for which you should report to the Collection Point at specific times:

 

Monday-Friday 7:30-9:00, Saturday 8:00-9:00

  • ✔️ Aldosterone

Monday-Friday 7:30-10:30, Saturday 8:00-10:30

    • ✔️ ACTH
    • ✔️ Calcitonin
  • Monday-Friday 7:30-10:30, Saturday 8:00-9:30
    • ✔️ Prolactin test 3 points
    • ✔️ Glucose tolerance tests (sugar curves 2 points, 3 points, 5 points)

Monday-Friday 7:30-11:00, Saturday 8:00-11:00

    • ✔️ ACP (acid phosphatase)
    • ✔️ Growth hormone
    • ✔️ C-peptide
    • ✔️ Homocysteine
    • ✔️ Osteocalcin

Monday-Friday 7:30-11:30, Saturday 8:00-10:30

  • ✔️ Prolactin test 2 points

 

*The sugar/insulin curve is performed on patients aged 18 and over
