General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.

Badanie ASO pomocne jest w diagnostyce płonicy (szkarlatyny), zwłaszcza w wątpliwych przypadkach, a także innych chorób wywołanych przez paciorkowce, np.anginy paciorkowcowej oraz chorób reumatycznych. ASO jest traktowane jako wstępna część diagnostyki, wymaga potwierdzenia innymi, nowszymi i bardziej czułymi metodami.
Wartości nieprawidłowe ASO: świadczą o alergizacji paciorkowcowej (szkarlatynie, anginie), po leczeniu streptokinazą.
