Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
The ASO test is helpful in diagnosing scarlet fever (scarlet fever), especially in doubtful cases, as well as other diseases caused by streptococci, such as streptococcal tonsillitis and rheumatic diseases. ASO is considered an initial part of the diagnostic process and requires confirmation with other, newer and more sensitive methods.
Abnormal ASO values: indicate streptococcal allergy (scarlet fever, tonsillitis), following streptokinase treatment.
