Description
Clinical significance of the study:
Aspergillus infections typically begin in the respiratory tract. They primarily cause serious infections in neutropenic patients after cancer treatment, and in patients treated with immunosuppressive drugs and corticosteroids. Aspergillus is rarely cultured from blood cultures, so an antigen detection test is helpful in diagnosing invasive aspergillosis.
