Newborns and infants:
- The examination is best performed during physiological sleep (this shortens the examination time), but it is not necessary.
Description of the study
The test is performed using a probe inserted into the external auditory canal. During the test, a tone of varying intensity is administered to the ear. This painless test allows for the assessment of the function of individual elements of the middle ear and the state of the connections between them (the auditory ossicles), as well as the level of facial nerve damage and brainstem damage.
