Cytogenetic study performed by FISH technique with BCR probe::ABL1 t(9;22) Fusion

• The test is taken at a dedicated Intake Point.
• The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test, it is advisable to drink a glass of water or bitter(unsweetened) tea.

Samples brought from outside are not accepted for testing.

Cytogenetic study performed by FISH technique using BCR probe::ABL1 t(9;22) FusionTranslocation of t(9;22) between chromosomes 9 and 22 results in BCR/ABL1 fusion gene. This aberration is most commonly found in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), as well as in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). FISH testing with a probe that detects the t(9;22) translocation allows confirmation of the diagnosis of CML, and in the case of ALL-where it is a factor in poor prognosis-assigns the patient to a high-risk group, which entails a different clinical management.
