Reservation:

Scrapings (dry smooth and hairy skin, nails, hair, dry earlobe) are collected without prior appointment during collection point opening hours.
For scrapings from dry skin in intimate areas, an appointment must be made with a midwife.
Swab tests (mucous membranes – oral cavity) are taken without prior reservation:
– Branches in Lublin: only from Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 14:30,
– other Branches and Collection Points: only from Monday to Friday during the opening hours of the collection point.
Swab tests (vagina, foreskin, glans) - are taken in the gynecological office by a midwife/doctor:
– Branches in Lublin: only from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – appointment required,
– other Branches: only from Monday to Friday until 12:00 p.m. – appointment required.

Preparation for the examination

General

The material should be collected before the implementation of antimycotic treatment or at least 1 week
after the end of treatment (applies to mucous membranes) or 1 month after the end of treatment (applies to other sites).
On the day of the examination, the skin lesion should not be lubricated (with ointment or cream), as the mycelial hyphae retract into the skin.
The sampling site should be cleansed of cosmetics (face powder, armpits antiperspirant) the day before the examination.
It is not permitted to remove cosmetics from the face immediately before the examination.
In the case of scalp scrapings, do not wash your hair for 2 days before the examination
The nail plate should be clean, soaked in soapy water one day before the examination, not cut for about 1 week, without nail polish (the nail polish should be removed 1 day before the examination, before soaking in soapy water).
Before collecting the material from the oral mucosa, at least one hour before the examination,
you should not: eat, drink sweet drinks/juices, chew gum, brush your teeth, use mouthwashes or lozenges, and smoke.
For cultures from swabs from intimate areas, an appointment must be made in advance.

Specific for women

The patient should not do any vaginal rinsing or have sexual intercourse for 24 hours before the examination.

Detailed for men

On the day of the examination, the genital area should be washed without using soap or gel. It is necessary to refrain from sexual intercourse for 24 hours.
