Booking:

Tests from scrapings (dry smooth and hairy skin, nails, hair, dry auricle) are taken without prior reservation during the collection center's business hours.
For scrapings from dry skin of the intimate area, reservations must be made with the midwife.
Smear tests (mucous membranes - oral cavity)are taken without prior reservation:
- Lublin branches: exclusively from Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 14:30,
- Other Branches and Collection Centers: only from Monday to Friday during the hours of operation of the collection center.
Smear examinations (vagina, foreskin,glans)- are taken in the gynecology office by a midwife/doctor:
- Lublin branches: only Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 14:30- appointment booking required,
- Other Branches: only from Monday to Friday until 12:00 pm- appointment booking required.

Preparation for the study

The material should be collected before the implementation of antimicrobial treatment or at least 1 week
after completion of treatment (applies to mucous membranes) or 1 month after completion of treatment (applies to other sites).
On the day of the examination, the skin lesion should not be lubricated (ointment, cream), as the mycelium shreds retreat into the skin.
The collection site should be cleansed of cosmetics (face-powder, armpit-antiperspirant) on the day before the test.
It is not allowed to cleanse the face from cosmetics just before the test.
For scalp scrapings, do not wash your head 2 days before the test
The nail plate should be clean, one day before the test, soaked in soapy water, not cut for about 1 week, without polish (polish should be washed off 1 day before the test, before soaking in soapy water).
Before collecting material from oral mucous membranes at least one hour before the test
do not: eat,drink sugary drinks/juices, chew gum, brush teeth or use mouthwash as well as lozenges and smoke.
For cultures from swabs of intimate areas, advance appointment booking is mandatory.

The patient should not: wash her vagina and have intercourse for 24 hours before the test.

On the day of the test, the genital area should be washed without soap and gel. It is necessary to refrain from sexual contact for 24 hours.

Mycological testing is not performed from feces and urine - in this case, a mycological culture can be performed.

Mycological examination is designed to detect the fungus.
