General

The material should be taken before the first dose of antibiotic.
The culture is performed for aerobic bacteria.

Description

CPE strains refer to a group of Enterobacteriaceae that have acquired resistance to most antibiotics, including carbapenems.

In most cases, CPE bacilli residing in the gastrointestinal tract do not cause infection.

The purpose of the test is to detect the carriage of CPE strains in the rectum.
