Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient must fast. On the day before the test, a light,
low-fat diet is recommended, along with refraining from intense physical activity and stimulants. - On the day of your blood test, you should avoid drinking coffee or smoking. It's recommended to drink a glass of water.
Rest for 15-20 minutes before your blood test.

Description
Protein C is a natural inhibitor of coagulation factors V and VIII produced in the liver.
Its activation depends on the action of thrombin bound to thrombomodulin and Ca ions. This reaction occurs more rapidly in the presence of protein S.
Protein C deficiency is associated with recurrent episodes of venous thrombosis. Acquired protein C deficiency may accompany liver dysfunction, treatment with oral anticoagulants, and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
