• You should stop taking anticoagulants 5 days before the biopsy unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
• To undergo the test, you must have a referral – it is absolutely required.
• Please bring with you medical documentation regarding the organ being examined (e.g. ultrasound with description, mammography with description, isotope test result).
• In men, it is necessary to shave the beard before cervical lymph node biopsy and salivary gland biopsy.

A biopsy involves inserting a thin needle directly through the skin into a lesion, such as a tumor or cyst. Biopsy most often involves lesions located in the breast, thyroid, or lymph nodes.
The physician performing the biopsy, guided by an ultrasound probe, inserts the needle into the lesion and collects the sample.
