Description
Fine-needle biopsy is used to establish the diagnosis of palpable and nonpalpable tumors.
For nonpalpable tumors, biopsy is performed under the guidance of topographic (imaging) studies, e.g. computed tomography (CT), mammography,
scintigraphy, ultrasonography (ultrasound). This is known as targeted biopsy - BACC (or in other words: selective, elective biopsy).
