Ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy

• The patient should come for the examination after a meal (the patient should be full).
• You should stop taking anticoagulants 5 days before the biopsy unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
• To undergo the test, you must have a referral – it is absolutely required.
• Please bring with you medical documentation regarding the organ being examined (e.g. ultrasound with description, mammography with description, isotope test result).
• The cost of histopathological evaluation of the collected material (per biopsy) is PLN 120. In some cases, additional tests (immunohistochemical tests) may be necessary to obtain a diagnosis, subject to an additional fee.

A core needle biopsy involves puncturing the lesion/tumor under local anesthesia with a special needle, which is then filled with the diseased tissue. The collected sample is then sent for histopathological examination. The patient does not require any special treatment after the procedure. The biopsy can be performed on the breasts, lymph nodes, and subcutaneous tumor-like lesions.
