According to the guidelines, serological diagnosis of Lyme disease should be carried out in two stages: in the first stage, an ELISA-type test should be performed, then positive/questionable results should be confirmed with an immunoblot test. Western Blot test is used for qualitative in vitro determination of human IgM class antibodies against Borrelia antigens in serum or plasma. In the IgM Anti-Borrelia EUROLINE-RN-AT- adv test, a particularly important antigenic component is dimeric, covalently bound, OspC advanced from four pathogenic Borrelia species (B. afzelii, garinii, burgdorferii, spielmanii). In addition, antibodies against antigens are detected: VlsE from B. burgdorferii, p41, p39. In case of a positive result, the antibodies present in the patient's serum are combined with bacterial antigens placed on the membrane strips.
