Description
The CA 72-4 antigen (tumor-associated glycoprotein 72) is used as a tumor marker in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers, primarily stomach cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and breast cancer. Elevated antigen concentrations are also observed in non-neoplastic conditions such as pneumonia, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis, and ovarian cysts. Serum determinations are useful in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment monitoring.
