Description
CA 72-4 antigen (tumor-associated glycoprotein 72) is used as a tumor marker in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers, mainly gastric, colorectal, esophageal and pancreatic cancers, ovarian, non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer. Elevated antigen levels are also observed in non-cancerous processes such as pneumonia, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis and ovarian cysts. The serum assay is useful in diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of treatment.
