Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) testing is useful in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of cancer (particularly colon and rectal cancer, as well as gastrointestinal and gastrointestinal cancers). Increased CEA levels are observed in former and current cigarette smokers.
