- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Copper-binding protein. It acts as a factor limiting the release of iron stores; it activates the oxidation process of ascorbic acid, norepinephrine, serotonin, and sulfhydryl compounds; it is a free radical scavenger.
Increased values: infections, Wilson's disease, cancer, lymphoma, myocardial infarction, smoking.
Reduced values: degenerative liver changes in Wilson's disease, nephrotic syndrome, chronic hepatitis.
