Description
Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common cause of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and is responsible for approximately 50% of cases of non-nonococcal urethritis in men, mucopurulent cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease in women. A quantitative test is performed using the immunoenzymatic ELISA method, which allows for the determination of antibody concentrations in the patient's serum.
The presence of IgG antibodies indicates a history of infection.
