- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common cause of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and is responsible for approximately 50% of cases of non-nonococcal urethritis in men, mucopurulent cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease in women. The quantitative test is performed using the immunoenzymatic ELISA method, which allows for the determination of antibody concentrations in the patient's serum.
The presence of IgM antibodies indicates an ongoing disease process.
