Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
A cellular enzyme produced by liver cells. Liver damage leads to impaired production.
The importance of this test: monitoring liver function, the course of chronic liver diseases (such as cirrhosis), and assessing the severity of poisoning.
Elevated values also occur, for example, during recovery from liver damage, obesity, type II diabetes, alcoholism, etc.
Reduced values occur, for example, in cirrhosis, acute hepatitis, organophosphate poisoning, and myocardial infarction.
