The patient must not be on high-molecular-weight heparin treatment.

Samples brought from outside are not accepted for testing.

Description

Factor X is a serine protease that is part of the coagulation system. Vitamin K is required for the synthesis of factor X. It circulates in the blood in an inactive form. Factor X deficiencies can result from insufficient protein synthesis in the liver, vitamin K deficiency, hematopoietic malignancies. Symptoms of factor X deficiency include abnormal bleeding, increased bruising, the presence of blood in the urine (hematuria), frequent nosebleeds, and delivery strokes.
