Preparation

Description of the study
The examination involves examining selected skin lesions using a dermatoscope. This is an optical device with illumination, which allows the doctor to view the affected areas with very high magnification (10x magnification).
The dermatoscope is a device containing two contact cylinders used to observe skin lesions. Before examination, a thin layer of immersion oil (which creates an optical medium between the viewed skin and the dermatoscope) is applied to the skin surface where the cylinder is placed.
The examination takes from a few to several minutes. It can also be performed on pregnant women. It is painless and can be repeated multiple times.
