Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
The test allows for the simultaneous qualitative determination of VCA IgM antigen (a capsid antigen characteristic of early viral infection), VCA IgG, EA IgG, EBNA IgG, and IgG antibody avidity (determining the phase of viral infection).
The test is performed by indirect immunofluorescence using BIOCHIPs coated with selected cell lines presenting EBV antigens.
In positive cases, specific antibodies bind to viral antigens (positive fluorescence in the microscopic image).
