Preparation for the study
General
- The test material is blood.
- The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test, it is advisable to drink a glass of water or bitter(unsweetened) tea.
Description
The test allows simultaneous qualitative determination of VCA IgM antigen (capsid antigen characteristic of early virus infection), VCA IgG, EA IgG, EBNA IgG and IgG antibody avidity (determination of the phase of virus infection).
The test is performed by indirect immunofluorescence using BIOCHIPs coated with selected cell lines presenting EBV virus antigens.
In positive cases, specific antibodies bind to viral antigens (positive fluorescence in microscopic images).
