Description of the study
Diabetes is a metabolic disease, meaning that the associated disorders affect metabolism. In diabetes, the abnormalities primarily affect sugar metabolism and are caused by a lack or insufficient amount of insulin. There are two types of diabetes: type 1, insulin-dependent diabetes, and type 2, non-insulin-dependent diabetes.
During the Individual Education consultation – Basic information about type 1 and 2 diabetes – basics of diet, the patient:
- learn the basic differences between the types of diabetes,
- will learn how important a role a proper diet and lifestyle play in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
