Description of the study
A diagnostic test assessing peripheral nerve conduction and muscle function, examining neuromuscular junctions in neurological and orthopedic disorders. When the motor fibers of the nerve are stimulated, the excitation wave travels not only to the muscle but also to the motor cells of the anterior horns. There, it echoes and reaches the muscle as an F wave. During peripheral stimulation, the excitation wave travels almost twice along the entire length of the nerve.
Contraindications
- implanted electric pacemaker,
- metal elements in the heart (e.g. artificial valve),
- metal elements in the examined body area, e.g. endoprostheses.
