- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
It belongs to the group of sex hormones. Produced in the ovaries, in the placenta during pregnancy, and in small amounts by the adrenal cortex and in the testicles, it influences the menstrual cycle. It is used as a component of oral contraceptives and hormone replacement medications during menopause. Estriol is a metabolite of estradiol. The importance of the test: hormonal causes of amenorrhea, the possibility of detecting an ovarian tumor, and information about the course of pregnancy. Abnormal values: hormonal disorders affecting sex hormones, ovarian tumor.
