- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.

Ferritin is a protein capable of rapidly binding and readily releasing iron.
Ferritin concentration is considered the best indicator of body iron stores, corresponding to bone marrow iron content.
Indications for measurement include: assessing iron stores, monitoring the effectiveness of iron replacement therapy, and monitoring erythropoietin therapy.
