Ferritin is a protein that has the ability to rapidly bind and readily release iron.
Ferritin concentration is considered the best indicator for assessing the body's iron stores, corresponding to the iron content in the bone marrow.
Indications for determination are: assessment of iron stores, control of the effectiveness of treatment with iron substitution, control of erythropoietin therapy.
