Description

This test is performed to identify the causes of symptoms related to food intolerance.
Food intolerance (hypersensitivity, type III allergy) is an immunological reaction characterized by the production of IgG antibodies in response to specific foods.
These antibodies, along with fragments of intolerant food proteins, form immune complexes that can have a detrimental effect on the body's functions, inducing inflammation—systemic or localized to specific tissues.
The most common symptoms of food intolerance include anxiety, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches/migraines, fatigue, hypertension, eczema, asthma, joint pain, chronic rhinitis, arthritis, abdominal pain, and weight problems.
FoodDetective is a qualitative ELISA-based test used to diagnose elevated levels of food-specific IgG(1-4) antibodies.
The test detects IgG antibodies against the following foods:
Oats, wheat, rice, corn, rye, durum wheat, gluten, almonds, Brazil nut, cashew nut, tea, walnut, cow's milk, whole egg, chicken, lamb, beef, pork, white fish mixture (haddock, cod, flatfish), freshwater fish mixture (salmon, trout), tuna, crustacean mixture (shrimp, lobster, crab, mussels), broccoli, cabbage, carrot, leek, potato, celery, cucumber, bell peppers (red, green, yellow), legume mixture (peas, lentils, haricot beans), grapefruit, melons (cantaloupe, watermelon), peanuts, soybeans, cocoa, apple, blackcurrant, olives, orange and lemon, strawberry, tomato, ginger, garlic, Fungi, yeast.
This test can only be performed during a visit to the dietetic/nutrition clinic at Luxmed Medical Center.
Based on the test results, the dietitian determines nutritional recommendations and an elimination diet.
