Preparation for the study
General
- The test material is blood.
- The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test, it is advisable to drink a glass of water or bitter(unsweetened) tea.
Description
Alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme produced in children mainly in the bones, in adults in the liver.
Significance of the test: search for diseases that proceed with increased bone remodeling, also with bile stasis.
Abnormal values of phosphatase: liver diseases with bile stasis, bone diseases.
