Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
One of the basic tests used in the diagnosis of metabolic bone disorders.
Increased values: renal failure, hypoparathyroidism, pseudohypoparathyroidism, tissue damage, fasting, acidosis, diabetes, bone shedding (malignant tumors), vitamin D overdose, high-phosphate diet.
Reduced values: parenteral nutrition, recovery from diabetic acidosis, respiratory alkalosis, malabsorption syndrome, diarrhea, long-term use of aluminum preparations, primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D-resistant rickets, proximal renal tubule dysfunction, diuretics.
