Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
FT4 is a hormone produced by the thyroid gland. It increases carbohydrate and fat metabolism and protein synthesis.
Increased values: hypothyroidism during thyroxine therapy, thyrotoxicosis, euthyroidism with elevated thyroglobulin (TBG) levels.
Reduced values: hypothyroidism, significant iodine deficiency, euthyroidism with decreased TBG levels.
