Description
Anti-HBc antibodies are detected soon after the appearance of HBsAg surface antigen. Since anti-HBs antibodies can appear with some delay after the disappearance of HBs antigen, they are sometimes the only serological marker of HBV infection and infectivity of the patient's blood. The level of IgM antibodies against the cortical antigen of the virus will decline in the form of an acute uncomplicated infection, while IgG antibodies will persist for years.
