- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
Anti-HBe antibodies are detectable in patients recovering from hepatitis B virus infection and in HBV carriers who are able to eliminate the HBe antigen from circulation. These antibodies typically persist for years and are an indicator of reduced infectivity and improved prognosis. Treatment of HBeAg-positive patients with alpha-interferon can often induce seroconversion and the production of anti-HBe antibodies. Monitoring anti-HBe status allows for the detection of seroconversion, which is important for the appropriate treatment of hepatitis B virus infection.
