- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
HE4 is a protein whose increased expression in cells, along with increased serum concentrations, is observed in patients with ovarian cancer. Trace amounts of HE4 are also synthesized by cells of healthy tissues, such as the epididymis and epithelial cells of the respiratory and reproductive systems. The HE4 marker is used to detect and monitor treatment, as well as monitor recurrence of ovarian cancer.
