Description
HE4 is a protein whose increased expression in cells with a concomitant increase in serum levels is observed in ovarian cancer patients. In trace amounts, HE4 is also synthesized by cells of healthy tissues, such as epididymides, or epithelial cells of the respiratory and reproductive systems. The HE4 marker is used to detect, monitor treatment and monitor recurrence of ovarian cancer.
