Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
The H. simplex virus causes infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including the lips, oral cavity, and genital tract. In newborns, infection with the virus (during delivery) can be life-threatening. In the initial stages of infection, specific IgG levels may be undetectable, beginning to increase 1-2 weeks after the initial infection. Maximum levels are reached at 6-8 weeks. Antibody levels may decrease to undetectable levels between reactivations.
The test is performed using the Elisa method.
