General

The test material is blood.
The patient does not need to be fasting.About 30 minutes before the test it is advisable to drink a glass of water.

Description

H. simplex virus causes skin and mucous membrane infections located on the lips, in the mouth and in the genital tract. In newborns, virus infections (during delivery) can be life-threatening. In the early stages of infection, the level of specific IgG may be indeterminate, and begins to rise 1 - 2 weeks after the initial infection. The maximum is reached at 6 - 8 weeks. The level of antibodies may decrease to non-quantifiable levels in the periods between reactivations.
The test is performed using the Elisa method.
