- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
The H. simplex virus causes skin and mucosal infections, localized to the lips, oral cavity, and genital tract. In newborns, viral infections (during delivery) can be life-threatening. The level of specific IgM antibodies increases in the initial phase of infection, indicating an ongoing infection.
The test is performed using the Elisa method.
