Preparation for the examination

General

The material for testing is blood.
Approximately 30 minutes before the examination, it is recommended to drink 1 glass of water only.
The patient must fast for at least 12 hours after consuming the last meal, unless the doctor recommends otherwise (e.g. performing the test after a meal)
Before the test you may only drink water.
You should not drink coffee, flavored water, drinks such as cola light/cola “zero”, energy drinks, or juices.
You should not eat meals, snacks, fruits, vegetables, breath fresheners, chew gum, or smoke cigarettes.

For children up to 3 years of age, it is recommended to collect blood half to one hour after feeding.

Samples brought from outside are not accepted for testing.

Description

Increased secretion occurs during physical exercise, deep sleep, hypoglycemia, and a high-protein diet.

Increased values: acromegaly in adults;

gigantism in children, starvation, anorexia nervosa, chronic renal failure, liver cirrhosis, alcoholism, and porphyria.

Reduced values: congenital growth hormone deficiency, acquired growth hormone deficiency.
