Growth hormone inhibition curve (5 points) after a 75g glucose load

• The material for testing is blood.
• Approximately 30 minutes before the examination, it is recommended to drink 1 glass of water only.
• You should not drink coffee, flavored water, drinks such as cola light/cola “zero”, energy drinks, or juices.
• You should not eat meals, snacks, fruits, vegetables, breath fresheners, chew gum, or smoke cigarettes.
• The patient must fast for at least 12 hours after consuming the last meal, unless the doctor recommends otherwise (e.g. performing the test after a meal)
• Testing:
  1. Blood is drawn on an empty stomach to determine baseline HGH concentration.
  2. A glucose solution is administered (a dose of 75% glucose dissolved in 200 ml of warm water), which the patient should drink as soon as possible (within 10 minutes).
  3. After the patient consumes the solution, time measurement should begin.
  3. Blood is drawn 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after glucose administration to determine HGH concentration.

Samples brought from outside the office are not accepted for testing.
A referral from a physician is required.
For minors (under 18 years of age), the referral must specify the glucose tolerance dose.
The patient receives the prescribed glucose dose at our facilities.
The test takes 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete. Please arrive for the test in the morning, immediately after the collection point opens.

Growth hormone is synthesized in the anterior pituitary gland from a precursor called preGH. A baseline HGH concentration is diagnostically low.
Normal values ​​do not rule out the disease. Due to the low value of a single serum HGH measurement, standardized stimulating and inhibiting tests, including HGH measurement, are required. One such test is the glucose tolerance test (oGGT) to inhibit HGH secretion.
