Description
IgA is found in mucous membrane secretions, saliva, tears,nasal mucosa, lungs-are involved in antimicrobial defense.
Abnormal values are found in infections and allergies.
IgM are responsible for "early defense" in bacterial and viral infections. Elevated IgM are indicative of a fresh infection.
IgG are also involved in antimicrobial defense in the blood. They pass through the placenta, providing protection for the baby against infections in the first months of life.
