Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
IgA is found in mucous membrane secretions, saliva, tears, nasal mucosa, and lungs, and is involved in antibacterial defense.
Abnormal values occur in infections and allergies.
IgM is responsible for "early defense" in bacterial and viral infections. Elevated IgM indicates a recent infection.
IgG also plays a role in antibacterial defense in the blood. They cross the placenta, providing protection against infections in the baby's first months of life.
