Preparation for the study

General

For the test, collect a fecal sample the size of a hazelnut into a disposable container (without transport medium or preservatives).
Until the stool is delivered to the collection center, the capped container with the collected material should be stored in a cool place, but not more than 2 days.
The container with the collected material should be signed.

Important

The immunoenzymatic method does not require a meatless diet, as only human hemoglobin is detected.
The test is not performed during menstruation (at least 3 days after the end of menstruation).
About 3 days before the test, one should refrain from dental procedures( possibility of swallowing blood) and stop aspirin.

Description

The "stool test for occult blood" is performed as a screening test for the presence of peptic ulcer disease, colon cancer or colon polyps. The test is not performed during menstruation (at least 3 days after its end).
