Preparation for the examination
General
- For testing, a stool sample (liquid consistency) should be collected in a disposable container (approximately 5 ml).
The collected material should be stored in a cool place until delivered to the laboratory,
but no longer than 2 days. Be sure to label the sample container.
Important
If the diagnostic process requires the establishment of a culture, the waiting time for the test result is extended to 4 working days.
Description
The test is performed using an immunological test and is intended to detect Clostridium difficile toxins A and B in stool samples collected from individuals suspected of having antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
NOTE:
Pursuant to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 26, 2020 (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1118), a positive test result is subject to mandatory reporting by the laboratory performing the test to the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.
