Feces-protozoa

• For testing, a hazelnut-sized stool sample should be collected in a disposable container (without transport medium or preservatives).
• The container containing the collected material must be signed.
• Until the stool is delivered to the collection point, the sealed container with the collected material should be stored in a cool place, but not longer than 2 days.
• In the case of diarrheal stool, the material should be delivered to the laboratory no later
  than 2 hours after collection.

This test is used to detect intestinal protozoa that cause gastrointestinal infections.
NOTE:
Pursuant to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 26, 2020 (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1118), if Giardia lamblia is detected in stool, the test result must be reported by the laboratory performing the test to the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.
