Important
Preparation
- For three days before the test, you should not eat any foods containing small seeds (e.g. grapes, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, watermelons, blueberries, tomatoes, etc.), foods with poppy seeds and cabbage, linseed, or wholemeal bread.
- If someone is taking iron preparations, they should be discontinued 2 days before the examination.
- The method of preparation depends on the planned time of the examination and the laxative preparation – the preparation should be purchased at a pharmacy (prescription drug).
- A normal reaction while preparing for the test will be numerous bowel movements, with only liquid and water at the end.
- If you experience nausea, please slow down your fluid intake.
- On the day before and the day of the test, you should take any necessary medications you take regularly (e.g., heart medications, blood pressure medications). If you have diabetes, please discuss your medication and insulin doses with your diabetologist in advance.
- If you are taking anticoagulants, any changes should be discussed with the physician who prescribes the test or treats you at the clinic.
- Please bring a companion to your examination or have the option for your companion to pick you up after the examination.
- You can bring a meal with you to eat after the examination.
- If you wear glasses, please bring them.
- During the examination, the doctor may decide to take samples for histopathological evaluation and possible further immunohistochemical diagnosis (histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis is subject to an additional fee).

If the examination will be performed under general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist:
- The need for an examination under general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist should be reported at the time of registration for the examination!
- Anesthesia with an anesthesiologist is an additional fee .
- You should refrain from drinking for 4 hours before your examination with the anesthesiologist.
- Before the examination under anesthesia, no need to remove nail polish or hybrid/gel nails.
- Patients should arrive for the examination approximately 30 minutes before their scheduled appointment time.
Before the examination, a health questionnaire is completed, and the anesthesiologist decides whether anesthesia may be administered. - After the examination, the patient remains at the Luxmed Medical Center for approximately one hour.
- Administration of anesthesia requires arrival at the facility with an accompanying person who will wait for the patient immediately after the examination.
- At home, you should also have adult supervision until the next morning.
- You cannot drive a motor vehicle for 24 hours after anesthesia.
FORTRANS
- The day before the examination, you can eat an easily digestible breakfast and a clear soup for lunch (broth without any additives, especially fat!).
- The rule is to take the cleansing preparation in two doses, several hours apart. The schedule provides the times for each dose.
- Several hours before your scheduled examination (times are listed in the schedule below), please take your first dose of the preparation. A natural reaction during this time will be numerous bowel movements, with only liquid contents at the end.
- During bowel cleansing, please remain active and move around normally as much as possible.
- After a break of several hours (see the schedule below), prepare and drink the second dose. A normal reaction during this time will be continued bowel movements of liquid content.
- The last watery stool will likely appear within 2-3 hours of finishing your second dose. Please take this into account when planning your visit to the clinic.
- Ideally, you should stop drinking fluids 4 hours before your test. If you're traveling from a long distance by public transportation and the journey will take many hours, please begin bowel cleansing 1-2 hours beforehand, aiming to complete bowel cleansing 5-6 hours before your test.
- Please do not use antidiarrheal medications during and after bowel cleansing.
- The bowel cleansing preparation should be dissolved in still water or another clear liquid. In addition to water, the following are permitted: clear juices, clear non-carbonated drinks, weak tea, light coffee without grounds or milk, and clear vegetable broth (fat-free).
- If you experience nausea, please slow down your fluid intake.
PREPARATION FOR THE TEST:
At the specified time (see schedule), dissolve 2 sachets of Fortrans in 2 liters of still water (you can add seedless lemon juice or clear apple juice) and drink the prepared liquid within 2 hours (one glass every 15 minutes). The remaining 2 liters are taken thereafter (see schedule). Before drinking each liter of solution, swallow 1 sachet of Espumisan Easy. After drinking Fortrans, you may drink still water or other clear, non-carbonated liquid. Fluid intake should be discontinued 4 hours before the test.
- If the planned examination time is 08:00 – 08:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 20:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 02:00 on the day of the examination .
- If the planned examination time is 09:00 – 09:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 21:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 03:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 10:00 – 10:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 21:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 04:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 11:00 – 11:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 21:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 05:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 12:00 – 12:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 21:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 06:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 1:00 p.m. – 1:59 p.m. , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 9:00 p.m. the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 14:00 – 14:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 21:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 08:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 15:00 – 15:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 21:00 the previous day and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 09:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the scheduled examination time is 16:00 – 16:59 , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 06:00 on the day of the examination and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 10:00 on the day of the examination.
- If the scheduled examination time is 5:00 PM – 5:59 PM , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 7:00 AM on the day of the examination and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 11:00 AM on the day of the examination.
- If the scheduled examination time is 6:00 PM – 6:59 PM , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 8:00 AM on the day of the examination and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 12:00 PM on the day of the examination.
- If the planned examination time is 7:00 PM – 7:59 PM , then the first dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 9:00 AM on the day of the examination and the second dose of Fortrans (2 liters) should be taken at 1:00 PM on the day of the examination.
* You must bring a companion to your test. If you arrive in your own car, please bring a second driver – do not drive after your test.
If you use reading glasses, please bring them with you – you will be asked to complete a questionnaire and consent form. If you have previously had a colonoscopy, please bring a copy of the report.

CITRAFLEET
Two-day preparation – if the examination is to be performed by 10:00 a.m. (beginning of the examination)
On the day before the test, you can eat a "light" breakfast. Lunch is not permitted. You must fast until the test. Drink large amounts of still/boiled water and take laxatives as instructed.
CitraFleet preparation - 2 sachets
Dose 1 – to be taken at 8 p.m. the day before the test:
- Step 1 – Pour the contents of 1 sachet into a cup of cold water (approximately 150 ml).
- Step 2 – Stir for 2-3 minutes. If the contents become warm while stirring, allow to cool before drinking the entire solution. The suspension should be drunk immediately after preparation. The suspension will appear cloudy.
- Step 3 – after drinking the mixture, drink an additional 2 liters of clear liquid (still water) within 2 hours, one glass every 15 minutes!!
Dose 2 – to be taken at midnight the day before the test:
- Step 1 – Pour the contents of 1 sachet into a cup of cold water (approximately 150 ml).
- Step 2 – Stir for 2-3 minutes. If the contents become warm while stirring, allow to cool before drinking the entire solution. The suspension should be drunk immediately after preparation. The suspension will appear cloudy.
- Step 3 – after drinking the mixture, drink an additional 2 liters of clear liquid (still water) within 2 hours, one glass every 15 minutes!!
Two-day preparation – if the test is performed after 10:01
On the day before the test, you can eat a normal breakfast. Lunch is not permitted. You must fast until the test. Drink plenty of still/boiled water and take laxatives as instructed.

Dose 1 – should be taken between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. the day before the examination or procedure:
- Step 1 – Pour the contents of 1 sachet into a cup of cold water (approximately 150 ml).
- Step 2 – Stir for 2-3 minutes. If the contents become warm while stirring, allow to cool before drinking the entire solution. The suspension should be drunk immediately after preparation. The suspension will appear cloudy.
- Step 3 – after drinking the mixture, drink an additional 2 liters of clear liquid (still water) within 2 hours – one glass every 15 minutes!!
Dose 2 – should be taken 6 hours before the examination, stop drinking 4 hours before the examination

For example, examination at 11 a.m. – second dose at 5 a.m. (11-6=5), drink fluids until 7 a.m.
E.g., examination at 5 p.m. – second dose at 11 a.m. (17-6=11), drink fluids until 1 p.m.
If the patient has a longer journey ahead of him, he can start drinking the second dose 7 hours before and finish 5 hours before the examination.
Please note!!! If the examination will be performed under general intravenous anesthesia, you must not drink any fluids or chew gum for 4 hours before the examination!!!
Description of the study
The examination allows for a thorough assessment of the mucosa of the lower gastrointestinal tract. During the examination, a biopsy can be taken for histopathological examination or for the removal of a polyp (polypectomy) for an additional fee. The sampling process is not felt by the patient. The examination is usually well tolerated by patients and rarely causes significant pain.
Indications
- detection of the source of bleeding from the lower gastrointestinal tract,
- removal of polyps (polypectomy),
- chronic diarrhea or constipation,
- cancer diagnosis,
- inflammation of the intestine,
- pain in the anus and lower abdomen,
- as a prevention of colon cancer.
Contraindications
- suspected intestinal obstruction (in such a situation, the patient should go to the emergency room),
- taking antibiotics – antibiotics may distort the examination results, the patient can perform the examination at least 5 days after stopping antibiotics.
