Description
The Sars-CoV-2 virus mutation does not affect the test's ability to detect infection.
The test is intended to confirm infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
The test material is a nasal swab.
The test is performed using the BERIGHT test, which qualitatively detects the Sars-CoV-2 antigen.
The sensitivity and specificity of the test compared to the RT-PCR method is:
– sensitivity: 90.4%
– specificity: 99.5%.
This test detects an antigen (a protein derived from the interior of the virus cell) that is detectable only when the virus is active and capable of infecting. This occurs in the early stages of infection, sometimes even before symptoms appear.
Interpretation of study results.
A positive test result highly indicates active infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
A negative test result does not rule out infection. Collection may occur when there is no detectable antigen in the body. Therefore, in situations where symptoms or epidemiological factors indicate the possibility of infection, the test should be repeated after 1-2 days with a newly collected sample. If symptoms persist, a negative antigen test result should be verified with a genetic test using the RT-PCR method.
Test results are issued in Ukrainian and Polish. In accordance with current recommendations, the laboratory reports the antigen test result (positive and negative) to the EWP database.
