Description

Pertussis (former and common name pertussis) - is an acute infectious disease of the respiratory system, characterized by recurrent coughing fits and prolonged shortness of breath.
The disease is caused by the whooping cough bacillus (Bordetella pertussis). Survival of whooping cough leaves lasting immunity.
IgA class antibodies appear in the blood at the earliest (from the moment of infection)-i.e., even before the appearance of IgM class antibodies.

Antibodies to pertussis toxin (anti- PT) are produced specifically after Bordetella pertussis infection. They are present both during infection and after vaccination (PT is a component of many cell-free vaccines), so the immune response after vaccination cannot be distinguished from infection. Therefore, the results obtained within one year after vaccination with a cell-free vaccine are unreliable!
NOTE:
According to the Decree of the Minister of Health dated 26.06.2020, a positive test result is subject to mandatory reporting to the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.
