Description
Urea is the end product of amino acid catabolism. It is excreted by the kidneys depending on the degree of diuresis.
The concentration of urea in the blood depends on the supply of protein in food and the amount of urea excreted by the kidneys.
Factors that may affect the outcome of the study:
The result of the test can be affected by certain medications (e.g., tetracyclines, sulfonamides). Therefore, if possible, the blood test should be carried out before taking the morning portion of medication, unless otherwise instructed by the doctor. The patient should inform the intake personnel of the medications used.
