Description

Urea is the end product of amino acid catabolism. It is excreted by the kidneys depending on the degree of diuresis.
The concentration of urea in the blood depends on the protein intake in food and on the amount of urea excreted by the kidneys.
Factors that may influence the test result:
Certain medications (e.g., tetracyclines, sulfonamides) can affect test results. Therefore, whenever possible, blood tests should be performed before taking your morning medication, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Patients should inform the staff about any medications they are taking.

Ordering a test means consent to its performance using the spectrophotometric method.
