Newborns and infants:
- The examination is best performed during physiological sleep (this shortens the examination time), but it is not necessary.
Description of the study
The test assesses the auditory system's ability to process sound (assessing the cochlea). This is a non-invasive test. It is performed using a probe placed in the external ear canal. The subject receives a sound. The device collects the response from the auditory system and displays it in the form of a DP-gram.
The better the cochlea's function, the higher the response level. The test is sensitive and primarily assesses hearing abilities.
