- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
Description
This test evaluates anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibodies by indirect immunofluorescence (frozen monkey kidney sections are the standard substrate).
Anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies are characteristic of anti-membranous glomerulonephritis and Goodpasture syndrome (pulmonary syndrome)
. Goodpasture syndrome is a rare kidney disorder.
Clinically, it is characterized by anti-membranous, rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and pulmonary hemorrhage.
