Description
The test is used to evaluate antibodies to the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) by indirect immunofluorescence (frozen monkey kidney scrapings are the standard substrate).
Antibodies to the glomerular basement membrane are characteristic of antimembranous glomerulonephritis and Goodpasture's syndrome (syndrome-pulmonary)

Clinically, it is characterized by antimembranous, rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and pulmonary hemorrhages.
