Preparation for the examination
General
- The material for testing is blood.
- The patient does not need to fast. It is recommended to drink a glass of water approximately 30 minutes before the examination.
- You may take antihistamines before the test.
Description
The Respiratory Panel III measures serum IgE antibodies to 10 inhalant allergens: birch pollen, rye pollen, mugwort pollen, 6 grass pollens, mites: D. pteronyssinus and D. farinae, dog dander, cat dander, and mixes of mold and feather allergens. The panel helps diagnose the most common inhalant allergies and helps decide whether to initiate immunotherapy. It was developed for the needs of Polish allergists.
A blood sample can be collected without fasting. A light, fat-free meal is permitted. It is not necessary to discontinue other medications, including allergy medications (e.g., antihistamines, topical or oral steroids).
